“Cantare amantis est” (singing is of one who loves). This statement of St. Augustine’s reflects the mission of the music ministry at St. Theresa’s. We sing because we love God and because the beauty of sung prayer lifts our spirits to the divine. Music, as a splendid gift from God, is returned to God in praise. The music at St. Theresa’s is varied but the aim is the same, to praise God for His great love and mercy with the assembly of His people. Our music ministry welcomes new members anytime. See the information below describing the various choirs and feel free to contact any of the choir directors via email.

The Schola Cantorum was formed to preserve the rich musical heritage of the Catholic Church and to enhance the beauty of the liturgy in a way that lifts the hearts and minds of all present to the divine. It is an auditioned choir that sings Latin chant and sacred polyphony. We have sung at First Friday Mass, the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (12:30 Mass) and plan to continue to sing on the occasional Sunday or holy day of obligation. Members should be able to read music or learn the music with the aid of recordings provided by the director. Rehearsals are held each Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the choir loft. Contact Anne Miller at email@example.com to arrange an audition.
