WorkCamp

The Catholic Diocese of Arlington WorkCamp is a week-long experience providing the teens of our diocese an intense conversion experience through service, community, and prayer. Through the WorkCamp program, we serve our fellow Virginians by making their homes warmer, safer, and drier.

This service opportunity combines prayer, great speakers, daily Mass, confession, hard work, and tons of fun, making it an integrated experience of true Christian community and one of the most transformational opportunities for teens in our diocese each year!

WorkCamp 2024 is scheduled for June 22-28 in Frederick County, VA.

  • June 22 – June 28, 2024 — All high school aged teens in the parish are welcome.
  • $650 attendance fee per teen (includes all diocesan registration fees: teen + adult leaders)

Questions about registration or WorkCamp in general should be sent to: Michael Dunne, workcamp@sainttheresaparish.com.

WorkCamp Volunteer Opportunities

WorkCamp cannot exist without our adult volunteers … literally! For every 5 teens we have attending WorkCamp we need one Adult Leader and one WorkCamp Contractor … or we can’t bring the teens to WorkCamp!

The main categories of adult volunteers and a brief description of their duties at WorkCamp are as follows:

  • Adult Crew Leaders — these adults are assigned and responsible for a “crew” of 5-6 teens for the entire week of WorkCamp. The ACLs are responsible for driving the teens to and from the job site each day and oversees their general welfare and team spirit for the week. ACLs stay with our parish group at WorkCamp for the entire week. ACLs must pass background checks, be approved for driving teens with the diocese, and VIRTUS certified.
  • Adult Crew Leaders must be registered by Feb. 23, 2024
    • All Adult Crew Leaders must attend one of the Crew Leader training meetings in March 2024:
    • Wednesday, March 6 – 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit in Annandale, VA
    • Saturday, March 16 – 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Holy Family in Woodbridge, VA
    • Thursday, March 20 – 6:30-9:30 p.m. at St. Mark in Vienna, VA
  • WorkCamp Contractors — are essentially project leaders and on-site managers for the actual job sites during the week of WorkCamp. They work with the Adult Crew Leader on the job site to ensure the teens are safe and working well. The Contractor has primary responsibility for the job site and ensuring the project is completed as planned. Contractors must be background checked and DO NOT have to be licensed contractors.
    • Contractors must be registered by May 20, 2024.
  • Security Personnel — these volunteers travel to the WorkCamp Homebase (the school where we live for the week of WorkCamp) for just one day and ensure everything runs smoothly as the teens and their crews return to Homebase after a day of working on their job sites.
    • The deadline for registering for a security position is April 29, 2024

If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering for one of these positions for WorkCamp 2024, please contact Michael Dunne – workcamp@sainttheresaparish.com.

Registration for WorkCamp 2024 ends on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024!

NOTE: Registration for teens MUST be completed by their parent or guardian. A parent/guardian will initially log in to their existing portal account or create an account in order to display their family WorkCamp registration portal. Once they have an account set up, they may then register their child (or multiple children) and other family members (themselves or other adults) who plan to attend WorkCamp.

Upon registering a youth participant, the parent/guardian will be taken directly to a DocuSign site to electronically sign the registration forms. When adding other adults to the registration portal and registering them, an email will be sent directly to that adult with a link directing them to electronically sign their forms. It is not necessary to submit hard-copy forms to the WorkCamp office.

Every person who is registering for WorkCamp must be a part of a family account. Therefore, even contractors or young adults who register for WorkCamp will begin by creating their own family account or be registered with an existing family portal, i.e., a portal created by a spouse, parents, etc. However, individuals under the age of 22 who create a family account may not add additional family members to their portal.

The cost to attend WorkCamp 2024 is $650 per teen — this includes all diocesan and parish registration costs.

Teen registration for WorkCamp 2024 will close on Feb. 16, 2024 and all fees must be included by that point as well. This is a firm date – there will be NO late registrations accepted in our parish’s WorkCamp program.
